About the Role
We are seeking a highly technical and strategic Accounting Controller to lead corporate accounting, technical accounting, and financial reporting activities. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements while supporting the integrity, accuracy, and transparency of financial reporting and accounting operations. The ideal candidate brings deep technical accounting expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and a background in public accounting and the technology sector.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Lead the preparation, review, and delivery of external and internal financial reporting, including SEC filings, board materials, and investor presentations.
- Ensure compliance with SEC regulations, U.S. GAAP, and all applicable reporting deadlines.
- Serve as the subject matter expert on complex accounting matters, including:
- Revenue recognition (ASC 606)
- Lease accounting (ASC 842)
- Stock-based compensation
- Debt and equity instruments
- Financing arrangements and other technical accounting issues
- Research, document, and communicate accounting conclusions through technical accounting memoranda.
- Develop, maintain, and update corporate accounting policies and procedures.
- Act as the primary liaison with external auditors, managing quarterly reviews, annual audits, and audit-related requests.
Leadership & Cross-Functional Partnership
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing accounting and finance team.
- Foster a culture of accountability, technical excellence, continuous improvement, and innovation.
- Partner closely with legal, operations, engineering, and executive leadership teams to assess accounting implications of business initiatives, contracts, and strategic decisions.
- Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and enhancements to financial reporting controls and procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- CPA license required.
- 15+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
- 10+ years of experience with a Big Four public accounting firm required.
- Significant experience within the technology sector; experience supporting high-growth or infrastructure-focused organizations is highly preferred.
- Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and technical accounting research.
- Proven track record of managing audits, financial reporting processes, and accounting policy development.
- Strong leadership experience, including building and developing high-performing teams.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex accounting guidance into practical business recommendations.
- Demonstrated success leading organizations through change, process improvement, and operational transformation.

Hourly Pay: $120-$160 (hourly) depending on experience.
